The Bamboos

Across ten studio albums The Bamboos have been recognised worldwide as masters of reinventing Soul & Funk with modern songwriting within classic arrangements & production. They have connected equally to Soul & Funk purists and casual music fans by focusing on what’s important: infectious songs, groove and powerful vocals.

Their impact on what would become the now world-famous Melbourne Soul scene is undeniable, blazing a path and inspiring many to explore new ideas in Soul, Funk, Jazz and Beats. Their success has paved the way for the wider acceptance of Soul oriented music across Australia.

Formed in 2000 by guitarist / producer / songwriter Lance Ferguson, they were joined by their one of a kind lead vocalist Kylie Auldist in 2007. International attention came quickly, and they were the first Australian Soul & Funk act to be signed to an overseas label and then the first to tour the UK and Europe. Over the years they have collaborated with the likes of Aloe Blacc, Durand Jones, Alice Russell, Joey Dosik and Daniel Merriweather.

The combination of Kylie’s vocals and Lance’s guitar and songwriting helped propel “This Girl” by Kungs Vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners to become a massive worldwide hit in 2016. The remix by the French producer of the 2009 track went Platinum, Multi-Platinum and even Diamond in over 14 countries and hit #1 in over 10 countries.
Expect new music from The Bamboos in 2023.
