Dina Summer is the Berlin-based collaborative band project between Kalipo and DJ couple Local Suicide, fronted by Dina. The Greek native, who lends her vocals and thought-provoking lyricism to the act, first started performing as a teenager on local radio stations, making waves as one of the first female DJs in Thessaloniki. She later moved to Berlin, meeting her husband and DJ/Producer partner Max to form Local Suicide. The third member of Dina Summer is Bavarian-born Jakob aka Kalipo, who started his music career as founding member of the legendary German electro- punk band Frittenbude.

The supergroup began working on music together in 2019 and have since been refining their combined sound. It is a unique blend of their influences, drawing from 80s italo disco, new wave, EBM and early 00s electro clash for a dark retro-futuristic synth/wave pop sound that is standing out with its clubby basslines, epic melody hooks and dada lyrics.

Their previous work includes the critically acclaimed 2022 album Rimini, which dives into retro disco nostalgia, as well as the 2021 EP ‘Who Am I’ and the 2024 EP ‘Hide & Seek’. They’ve also contributed to Curses’ Next Wave Acid Punx compilation, participated in Purple Mag x radiooooo’s 2070 project, and Reeperbahn Festival’s Collide Sessions.

With millions of streams and international radio airplay, Dina Summer’s music has been featured on numerous Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists and supported by DJs like Charlotte De Witte, The Hacker, Vitalic, DJ Harvey, Âme, Dixon, DJ Hell, Joyce Muniz, and Dubfire. Their releases have garnered coverage from prominent publications, including RA, DJ Mag, Mixmag, Groove, Spiegel Online, Musikexpress, Tsugi, ELLE, Penthouse, and FAZE, which hailed them as one of Germany’s most promising electronic acts. Since their formation, Dina Summer have been selling out concert halls & headlining festivals across Europe with their critically acclaimed live show.

Their highly anticipated second album ‘Girls Gang’ is set to be released on January 24th, 2025 via Iptamenos Discos.
